TEMPLE TERRACE Goodbye three-ring, white agenda binders; the Temple Terrace City Council is going paperless.
With a growing number of cities across the state exploring the use of wireless technology for official business, Temple Terrace has made the leap to become the first in Hillsborough County.

The council decided to take action now based on the recommendations of staffers, including City Manager Kim Leinbach. The sooner the council goes paperless, the sooner the cost savings can begin, they said.
Each Apple iPad will cost about $500, plus a little extra for the tablet covers. The city will buy them with money from the general fund.
The city pays about $4,400 annually to prepare, print and deliver the agenda packets, Temple Terrace administrative assistant Rita Brizendine said.
"It's a lot of paper; it's a lot of work," Brizendine said.
"The idea is to save labor and cost," said Leinbach, who has been testing the paperless system since June. He receives a copy of the council's biweekly agenda via email in an Adobe PDF format form.
