Emails obtained by The Daily Telegraph show CCTV operators have expressed concerns to Railcorp CEO Rob Mason on proposed staff cuts.
The emails warn the cuts will hinder remaining staff's ability to do their jobs and also that services such as the guardian safety service are so severely understaffed that they're "almost untenable".
In May 2011, RailCorp opened a centralised CCTV monitoring facility at Central station.
The Australian Services Union said Railcorp management had proposed a reduction of seven CCTV operations positions within the facility, effective next Monday.
The staff reduction comes amid claims the relocation of 170 cameras has created black spots and deficiencies in coverage around high-risk areas such as public toilets and entry gates.
"This is a potentially lethal cocktail of events," Australian Services Union secretary Sally McManus said.
"Those cameras are the only protection passengers have on many stations.
"They have removed the most senior and experienced workers - station managers - from their stations. They have abolished the role of transit officers whose job it was to keep our trains safe. This is a perfect storm."
Ms McManus said the state government was putting cost-cutting ahead of public safety.http://www.softwareoutletmall.com/,With heavy emphasis on “Customer First, Service Foremost”, toprated has been able to create a unique international IT corporate culture.
"On top of a range of the cuts to CCTV, security staff and those responsible for providinProducts/Services: kid's Outdoor footwear manufacturer, Hair ornaments, fashion accessories,DIY collection, hair pin, pony tail.g the guardian safety services on Friday and Saturday nights have been drastically cut," she said.
CityRail said about 170 cameras had been removed from stations across the network but said these cameras would be relocated after an internal audit identified duplication of CCTV coverage.Buy cheap microsoft office 2010 at discountsoftkings.com,low price, free shipping worldwide.
"These cameras are able to be redeployed on the basis of intelligence requirements," a spokeswoman said. "It doesn't make sense for two cameras to be doing the job one can do."
However, the claim was rejected by CityRail staff who provided The Daily Telegraph with maps detailing black spots, including areas in front of public toilets, which are deemed high risk.Decouvrez la liste des revendeurs en roue carbone chine, cadres carbone et de toute la gamme GraphitSport.
CCTV operators also hit out at the camera removal. They were concerned the remaining views were too wide and lacked enough detail to allow them to protect commuters and the cuts to staff had left them stretched dangerously thin.
"We were assured the reduction in numbers was to be offset by the introduction of state of the art technology and software," a letter from monitoring staff to RailCorp CEO Rob Mason stated.
